Central Shreveport
Central Shreveport includes the neighborhoods of Highland and South
Highland,
and the area of the city along Fairfield Avenue. Many homes in these
neighborhoods date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s, with many large,
stately structures -- some restored and some converted to multi-unit
dwellings. The area is located near the central downtown business district,
entertainment centers, Centenary College, and the city's bed-and-breakfast
inns.
East Shreveport
East Shreveport includes the neighborhoods of Broadmoor and
Anderson Island, and is a unique blend of housing styles and income levels.
The area is distinguished as one of the most popular residential areas in
Shreveport, with excellent schools and shopping complementing the vicinity.
North Shreveport
Neighborhoods in north Shreveport are varied and diverse. Housing
options range from modest to upper-income, from country living to
well-established communities. Interstate 220 provides easy access from the
area to the rest of Shreveport-Bossier.
South Shreveport
Including the neighborhoods of Southern Hills, Summer Grove, and
Brookwood, this portion of the city consists mostly of middle-income
neighborhoods and traditional ranch-style homes, most of which were
constructed in the 70s.
Southeast Shreveport
Southeast Shreveport is located near the LSU-Shreveport campus
and includes the middle-income neighborhoods of University Terrace and South
Broadmoor; the upper-income developments of Southern Trace, Acadiana Place,
and Long Lake; patio homes and town house developments in King's Crossing,
Azalea Gardens and Apple Tree; and multi-family housing in Jackson Square
and Towne South. Major developments of health care facilities, retail
stores, and national restaurant chains make southeast Shreveport one of the
city's fastest growing areas.
